Nine Inch Nails has decided to join the ranks, they’ve released their newest music on bit torrent, AND it’s licensed under creative commons.  This is kinda cool.

There are just too many artists on dmusic.com that want me to download them.  I don’t get on p2p networks any more.  Although Retroshare looks like a really cool idea.  If I could get some of my buddies from the old audiogalaxy on that … it would be great, but I digress.

It’s easy enough to find a proxy service like proxify.com and visit the site in question and, put 0 in for the price.

So I’m guessing … that maybe just maybe the RIAA said we can’t have that … let’s waste $100,000 shoot maybe even $10,000 to set up a script that proxies in, and downloads it for free.  This can’t be a success.  If it is we’ll loose all our artists.

Well that’s my theory, if not shame on anyone who didn’t pay at least a buck.  I mean shoot if they got $1 from everyone that downloaded then we could have had a chance at loosing our current model.  All the money would have gone to the artist, and perhaps p2p would become mainstream, we could have then downloaded to our hearts content.  But nooo.

Oh well.

I don’t know if it’s going to work.  I sure hope it does.  I know for me it hasn’t really worked … I’ve had the donate button for a couple of months just in case anyone wants to donate a dollar or whatever.

Still my music is free for you to download, and share with your friends even if you don’t pay me anything.

To date I’ve sold 1 CD. 2 if you include one I purchased from myself on mp3.com.  Granted I’m not really trying.

Maybe if there were millions of people coming to the site, and downloading the music things would be different … I know my server situation would be different

At any rate have fun listening to my music which has always been free to download to your hard drive since I posted my very first song on mp3.com somewhere around 1998-1999.

If I made just $800 a month doing this thing I could consider quitting my day job … oh wait I’m a stay at home dad.

I had requested for them to add me to their database, and they’re gonna do it.  I appreciate the traffic, so I figured I’d give em a link back, and tell you about their service.

This is by far the coolest thing to hit the net since napster, audiogalaxy, mp3.com, shoot even IM, although … not stumble upon.

Ok, maybe most people aren’t going to see the true awesomeness of it.
I don’t get out much, and I get to jam even less, this sucks.
I’ve been to yahoo chat rooms where they have one person talking, or one person playing, and the rest of us listen. Not with ninjam. With ninjam I actually *play with* other people.

The *really really* cool thing is it isn’t windows only!! You can run a client on Mac, Windows, and linux. Someone even put out the .deb packages for ubuntu.

I feel like we had a really good jam session, and I don’t even know these guys.

It was *fun*

One nice thing about it … you couldn’t see your fellow jammers, so you couldn’t tell if they thought you sucked … lol. You couldn’t tell if they were 5 or 85. Fat or skinny. It was great. It’s not like you had to ad hear to an “image” because you couldn’t see what they were wearing.

It’s a really interesting show about the healtcare industry and MS.
